A Warm Welcome To You
We are so excited to be opening up a new worship service on the dock at Bayview Community Center. It is a time where you can hear some good music, hear a challenging Word, and be reminded of a God that loves you. It has meant all the world to us and we know it will to you as well!
What To Expect
This service is for those that want something a little different. We will have a simple selection of music. A message that will inspire and uplift. A setting that is gorgeous on the water. Bring a chair, come in your boat, bring your dog...most of all, come as you are! Can't wait to meet you.

About Us
What makes us different?
Well, this is a question that we finally have answered after thirty years of ministry. Check out some of the questions and answers below. We hope some of them resonate with you, and if they do, maybe you will want to ask even more questions. We are here to answer them all!
Why did you come to Pensacola?
Coming to Pensacola involved many things. First, we have family here, and they invited us to visit. When we came and drove over the big bridge, we knew there was something special. We made more visits and then got married here. We could not deny that God was calling us to do something in this area. So we jumped, and here we are!
What do you want to do here in Pensacola?
We want to do two things really well: SERVE and WORSHIP. When we started Ovecome, God spoke to both our hearts and asked us to focus on sending people first. Jesus did that as well. He sent people out to do mission to work in pairs. This is what we believe changes a heart more than a sermon. We always say that if you have a chance to serve or worship, serve! When we can make that a part of our spiritual DNA, it affects our marriages, children, jobs, and everything else. Serving others impacts a heart more than anything. We, then, believe that worship becomes a celebration of that service during the week. Worship becomes a time that we come together to thank God for what He has done. We know if we can get people to see the joy in Serving first, Worship will become so much more powerful.
Do you want to grow a big church?
The answer to this is absolutely NO! What we are more interested in is gathering smaller groups that actually get to know each other and come together to serve and grow together. We want to draw people back into the earliest church model. It's working in our different locations, and we know it can here too.
What do you think about the current condition of the Church world-wide?
This question is simple to answer. We and so many others want more. What we have seen since Covid is millions leave the church. They still love God and Jesus, but they don't see the church as a positive place to answer their deepest spiritual questions. They instead see judgment and hypocrisy. Some have been hurt by the church. Some have felt like they just don't fit. Some have been made to feel like they need to "DO" something more. Overcome desires to help people fall back in love with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the importance of gathering as a community of believers. We don't have the politics, the endless church committees, or the power structures that many churches have. We are not personality pastors or people who stand on a pedestal. We are two people in our late fifties who know people want a genuine, authentic, and abundant relationship with God. We are here to connect them with just that!
Do you have a plan or philosphy?
Our plan is more in the form of a question. What do you do well for one hour a week? This question is why we look at church in a lot of different ways. Pastors have convinced us to come each Sunday to sit and give. They then promised to make us feel great through song, lights, and things that would delight our senses. We want to do the opposite. What if Sunday wasn't the thing we placed all our spiritual hope in? What if our walk during the other six days and 23 hours was more important? What if we could start living that relationship with Jesus as real followers? Don't get us wrong...worship is essential, but it doesn't mean you have a real relationship with Jesus. Ask yourself how often you spend time with Jesus during the week. We asked ourselves that same question, and that's why Overcome was born!
How will you lead churches in Georgia and now in Florida?
Well, this is the hard part. We love all our locations, and so we drive up on Thursday or Friday to be with them and then drive back on Sunday or Monday to nurture the ministry here in Pensacola. It's not easy, but it's what we are called to do for now. The locations in Georgia have supported us beautifully, and they are praying for more places to grow in other areas.
How many locations are there of Overcome?
Right now, there are three expressions of Overcome. One in Canton, Peachtree City, and one in a nursing home called Manor Lake. What we are hoping is that the next phase will be to develop leaders to help serve even more locations. We envision Overcome as a movement of love across the world. We hope to see that in our lifetime.
What is this thing called 5-In-5?
5-in-5 is a model of service we think can ignite a heart. What if we could get five people serving within their 5-mile radius? What if we could draw a circle around an area in Pensacola, and then another five-mile circle, and another, and another? What if we could see circles of service all over the Pensacola map? It becomes a dynamic model if you think about it. What could you do within your five miles?
Hello Pensacola,
It's so nice to meet you!

WORSHIP
We can't wait to worship with you at the BAYVIEW COMMUNITY CENTER ON THE DOCK! We will have some acoustic music with traditional and contemporary songs to sing. There will be a message that inspires and challenges. Most of all, we want this time to be a time to restore and revitalize our lives! See you there!

SERVE (5-in-5)
We believe one thing is vital. Serving and using our gifts is critical at Overcome. We know from experience that sharing Jesus in the community is what changes lives. We are doing just that and want to teach more about how to join in the movement. It will be the greatest thing you ever did!

GROW
Growing in Christ is such a joy. Yet, we know so many have forgotten how to do that. At Overcome, we want to see everyone discover what a real relationship with Jesus looks like. When you do, you will find a Savior who loves you, cares for you, and wants to GROW you into something incredible!
